jan 31

- this is what Im doing right now. Incing an aggrivated shoulder. I didnt use it for the 3-4 days when I was sick. So I assumed it would be healthy enough to start working. Which was pretty much a big mistake. Its killing me today. So Im icing it and taking ibuprofen. Sucks.

- Today is actually the first day that I feel 100% back to normal from my illness. Ive worked out the past 2 days but really havent felt right. but the key is, i kept working out. I need to check to see what number Im on, but ive also felt less motivation to blog when my workouts are crappy. Here is better workout blogs next week.

- I will be at the superbowl on fri-sat-sun, so Im going to have to try to fit vacation workouts in. and those are the worst. I always pack my shoes, socks and workout clothes when i go on vacation.... but then the pretty much just stay in the bag. you guys ever do that? my heart is in the right place before I leave....

- you have got to see this picture. this girl gauged her bottom lip. Ive only seen weirdos do it in their ear. but she did her lip, and you can see her teeth! its crazy

back at it...

- I went back to the gym today. Spent an hour with my trainer. However he was concerned that I was attempting to come back a day or 2 too soon. So basically we did an old persons workout to make sure I can handle it.

- did some cables on the arms, shoulders. some abs. saldfjasldfjslf. it was boring as crap. I cant wait ti get back into it again. I felt like I could have went a lot harder today. but Ill let him make the call.

- this has been a pretty horrible week. lsakdjfasjdf

and so this blog sucks too.

nothing to do with working out

Ive mentioned that a couple buddies and I are writing a TV show. Some people have asked me about it. instead of tweeting 10 tweets, I thought id just write it here...

so a few months ago, I went with my agent to LA.

It was to talk about a few TV projects to a few people that should have been too busy to let me into their office. But since my agent is also a tv producer himself, he was able to pull some strings and get me a couple of meetings

some were with cable execs
a couple were with producers
a couple were with specific talent reps

after many meetings. and quite a few idea pitches (from me)... I retired back to my hotel room. and eventually left CA. I got a couple calls in the next week about little hosting jobs. most of them shot during the work week, and arent doable in my current situation.

however, at one of the meetings, we had a long discussion about a scripted (with actors) comedy show I wanted to work on and write. I didnt hear anything about it (or any of the other ideas) for a while, so I gave up. The producer from that meeting called my agent, and we conferenced a couple times. he wanted me to write a pilot for the show.

So I called the 2 best comedy writers I know, and we have been working on it the last few weeks. We have 2 weeks before its due. And we are getting close to first final draft now. we may even have time to do a table reading to see if its as funny as we think it is

One thing I heard OVER and OVER in these meetings was "if you want a role on a show, write THAT role and THAT show" . So thats what we are doing. apparently there are zillions of pretty actors and actresses trying to get roles. and only thousands of writers who can write and perform. hah. those are better odds!

obviously odds are slim that anything happens with it. but we are willing to put in the work and give it a shot. and we actually have someone with some pull that will for sure read it. good or bad.

worst case scenario: I learned how hard it was to write a show. i fail at this attempt. and try again
best case scenario: we write a show. im a big actor. and Im living in a house made of gold

last 2 days

man, this has been tough

but I have done a little something each day to keep my streak alive

my thoat was still hurting pretty bad yesterday. but when I take this pain med, it eases somewhat. But I also feel pretty dizzy if i move around. I did some light curls, some leg lifts and some stretching yesterday

today, I ran 1 whole mile. and did some abs.

these are brief. Mostly because Im ashamed that Im not going to be able to hit all 45 as hard as I wanted.

because of my illness, Im going to extend it to 50 workouts.

but, i havent missed. yet.

workout #30. i refuse to quit.

- Im not giving up on my workouts. Even with strep throat. and by the comments below, my extended stretching session last night counted as workout 29. Then what I did today, for sure counts as workout 30.

- my health is about the same. My body feels better. But my throat feels worse (which is why i didnt work). As a matter of fact, about 1am this morning... I broke a huge sweat. So my fever has been gone since.

- today, I stretched for 20 minutes. Did 10 minutes of abs. and did 4 sets of very light curls and arm extensions. I did some rehab exercises for my injured shoulder as well. Im not going to get to a month straight of working out every day and then quitting because I get a little illness.

- over the past 48 hrs, Ive had 7 yogurts. thats it. thats all I have been able to eat b/c of my throat. Ive also lost 4lbs. Ugh

workout 29

- well, I let you guys decide is workout 29 counts.

- first off, let me say that I have strep throat. I went to the doctor today. He verified it. I have the doctors note and everything. So because of my illness, obviously I wasnt able to do a normal workout. However, I didnt want to stop my streak.

- so for workout 29, I spent 30 minutes vigorously stretching. My hamstrings have always been tight. ad by "always", I mean Ive never been able to touch my toes. Never. My entire life. And one of my goals during the workout challenge was to improve my flexibility.

here is the definition of stretching

work·out (wûrk'out')
n.
A session of exercise or practice to improve fitness, as for athletic competition.

- I feel like an entire half hour of stretching is improving my fitness. what do you think? does it count?

- I also spent 10 minutes doing shoulder rehab exercises.

- time to go to sleep. Not feeling well. Ill await your responses.

26, 27, 28

- I missed my first days of blogging this weekend. Sorry. Keeping up everyday with this blog has become as difficult as working out everyday.

- Im amazing at how many people read such a boring blog. Im averaging between 8 to 10 thousand unique visitors on Monday-Thursday. And 5-7 thousand on Friday - Sunday. I assume the load is lighter on the weekends because people arent at work searching for ANYTHNG to keep them busy. And surely this blog is a last resort.

- Im sitting here with ice on my bum shoulder and I watch the Colts and Jets.

- I have hit 3 workouts in the last 3 days. 2 with my trainer and 1 on my own. The workout I decided to do solo was where I further tweaked my shoulder. I was told not to do any shoulder work for X amount of days. Of course i didnt listen. I thought i was totally healed. I was wrong. Now its worse than before. So bad, that today... ALL we did was cardio. Im going to have to rest it for a few days. and thats of almost any lifting of the upper body. Im an idiot.

- I gave myself a solid cheat day yesterday. I didnt eat a healthy dinner at all. I ate 2 horrible tacos, a grilled cheese, and a piece of cake. And all of that was prepared at the BINGO hall. Thats where we spent our saturday night. We're all so cool. I crashed about 11. woke up at 4, watched Roddick win his Aussie Open match then crashed again until workout time..

- after my last blog, we did this dumb music video. so i might as well put it up here.

- thats all for now. Ill resume normal blogging tomorrow.

number 25. only 20 to go!

- I did cardio kickboxing today. More on the actual class later.

- So we're all busting our butts. we're 35 minutes or so into the class when a girl walks in and joins. I dont have a problem with people jumping in late. but 35 minutes is a little much. Then she starts to bounce around like one of those superballs. She is kicking, and laughing, and looking around seemingly saying "cmon guys, looks how easy this is!".

SHE HAD BEEN THERE 5 MINUTES. We had been there 40. I feel that a few of those ladies would have strangled her had they been allowed.

dont be more than 10 minutes late.
and if you are, just blend in with the rest of the group. dont show anyone up by going all doubletime.

-There were some cute girls in this cardio kickboxing class. and I could tell how interested they were in talking to me after class by the way they sprinted out of the room immediately when the class was over. ZOOM. GONE.

- On to my review of the actual class.

it was the 4:30p cardio kickboxing class. and even though it was during the workday, it was still pretty full. The people in the class didnt look as hardcore as the people in the Total Conditioning class on Tuesday. and for that, i was thankful. It far was less intimidating.

the hour was a mix of these two pictures

- the instructor was an attractive female. small. but in good shape. and pretty much did the entire class with us. She didnt take breaks and hang out on the floor. I have a theory on why these instructors go into the crowd and walk around. its not so much to motivate.... its because they are tired.

- a lot of punching, kicking, jumping, squating (all the things you'd expect). We didnt stop the entire hour. I had 1 drink of water because the pace was so high. Overall it wasnt as intense as the class on tuesday, but was still a good workout. and was what I needed for a medium day.

good instructor
good cardio
and good music

Ill go back next thursday.

workout 24

- one thing ive learned from dong ANYTHING fitness, is that EVERYONE seems to know EVERYTHING about it. I get constant emails saying -do this- or -do that- . And some that say "you are doing this wrong". Others say "you are doing it exactly right". Everyone is an expert, apparently. Except me. I dont claim to know crap because I dont know crap. I just listen to the one person I trust. and thats the advice that Ill give anyone reading this. Just find someone who you respect and trust, and go on that.

- Still sore from yesterday. Mostly in my back and a little in my legs. My (slightly) injured shoulder is doing a little better. it hurts at odd times. Meaning I can bench press a lot (for me) and i feel nothing. But if i turn the weight a certain way just holding it, i wince in pain. I showed Ahmad where the injury was, and awesomely, i havent felt pain from a lift in it since. Ive also been icing it.

- This is the hardest 3 day stretch to this point. Im not sure if its because Im getting a little tired, or if the workouts have just been killer. We worked 30 minutes with the boxing gloves and pads.

did a set of combinations (4 punches), 2 deep duck down and he swung over me, back to the combination (10 times each side)

then again, and added knees to the pads
then again, and added knees and squat jumps
then again, and added knees, squat jumps, and side kicks

it was awful.

- from there we hit the bench press with free weights
IMG00712-20100120-1600.jpg

- this next picture may not look like much, but it was brutal. bench press with a simple band. repping out as many as I could in 60 seconds.

IMG00714-20100120-1602.jpg

- we also did some light curls. and abs.

- I feel pretty wiped. I think I may go for long run tomorrow. and thats all.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

workout 23.

- Ive hit over the halfway point. As of today, Ive completed a string of 23 consecutive workouts. and I feel like that number alone is something for me to be somewhat proud about. Here is a message I got my friend Megan, who I havent spoken to in a while..

"Can't believe you're doing 45 days in a row. I think I'd crack. But as for you, I don't think there's another person in the world who I'd bet on over you. I have a feeling you are absolutely going to follow through with this goal, right. Even if you can't move by the end..."

ok, enough with me congratulating myself. Im only halfway there.

- I woke up in the middle of the night with a throbbing shoulder. I may have done a little more damage to it than previously thought. I have ice on it now. I should have told Ahmad about it when it happened, rather than working through it.

- Tonight I went to another class at the big gym. It was called "total condtioning" or "total cardio". All the cool cats were just calling it TC. and everyone I spoke to before the class was bracing me for death. I pretty much only knew that it was a 70 minute cardio class.

Carlos went with me. here he is pre-workout. Thumbs up. Good Mood.

IMG00708-20100119-1612.jpg

Here I am. blurry. Carlos sucks at pictures.

IMG00709-20100119-1615.jpg

- I dont quite remember all the exercises. However, Im sure we worked every single muscle group. started with abs. moved to chest. then legs. then back, then arms, then, then, then, then. it was all a blur. and all under pretty heavy cardio. I have measured my past workouts by the amount of water Ive guzzled down. But there really wasnt a pre-determined water break. You had to stop working, and go to water. and I really tried not to. In 70 minutes, I took 3 breaks. Put down about half a bottle.

- The instructor was good. First off, he looked the part. Buff dude who was in good shape. Again.. who wants to take fitness instruction from Jack Black? He also came out onto the floor and held people accountable if they werent doing it right/working hard. Which I like.

- Los was suffering pretty bad about 50 minutes in. But to his credit, he never sat down or left the class.

- Solid workout. Ill go again for sure. Nice break up between lifting.

Here is Los after the workout. you cant tell by the picture... but he is covered in sweat.

IMG00710-20100119-1801.jpg

- Came home. cooked some dinner. Trying to eat as clean as possible.

IMG00711-20100119-1934.jpg

- if you are still working out, id love to hear your stories in the comments. or if this blog has motivated you in the least bit. Its motivated me, for sure.

22nd consecutive workout

- Im feeling pretty good right now. Im over my first fatigue hump. However, the little nagging injuries are a different story. I feel like I lightly strained my shoulder a few days ago. I felt it tighten, but it was so light that I said nothing about it. I continued to work through the tightness to the point where if I put any real strain on it now.... it hurts. I also have an extremely sore right wrist. I havent been able to shake the soreness for a week or so. and my knee clicks.

none of these are serious. but I can feel it all kind of coming together. and not in a good way. I guess it was somewhat expected.

- Today was (quite possibly) the hardest workout of the last couple weeks. I measure the workout by how many bottles of water I drink. 1 bottle is an OK workout. 1.5 bottles is solid. and 2 is good. I had 3.5 bottles of water today. I was water logged, yet still needed more at the end.

- We boxed and jumped. and boxed. and jumped. for 30 minutes straight. With one 3 minute break. There were lots of long combinations on punches and dodging, followed by sets up 12 squat jumps. And again. and again. and again. It was brutal. I sweat through my shirt and my shorts. I had to ring out my headband afterward.

- We then moved to the weights

- First off was a "super set" of back. a super set is (apparently) when you go from one exercise to another immediately with no rest.

4 sets (each) of 12.

alternating arm back pulls.

IMG00701-20100118-1553.jpg

back pull downs

IMG00707-20100118-1556.jpg

- Later was chest. supersets.

4 sets of 12

upper chest dumbbell press on the ball. My lower back was firmly in the ball. and my core was working to keep me from fall over to the side

IMG00704-20100118-1554.jpg

followed by the hardest 20 push ups of my life. brutal

IMG00705-20100118-1555.jpg

- we finished with 10 minutes of abs. Total workout time 70 minutes. Rough day today. For sure

- by the way, my butt is killing me from that spin class. yeouch

21st workout

- I went to bed at 10p last night. So it was pretty easy to make the 9am spin class. Much like the other class I participated in, i felt out of place immediately.

first off, I planned to get water in the store/restaurant at the gym. It wasnt open yet. (??) Luckily I had 1.00 in quarters and bought a tiny bottle of water. it took me a few minutes to find the room (it was hidden away by the stairs). I strapped myself in and started to warm up with the class.

The teacher walked in, and she was a beast. She was ripped up. And I like it when my instructor is in extremely good physical condition. The other class I took (2 days ago), that wasnt the case. I wouldnt want to learn baseball from a guy who only played little league. I want to learn from a guy who played at one of the highest levels. So I dont want to take fitness lessons/advice from someone that doesnt live the workout lifestyle

I kept having to adjust my seat while I rode. Later I found out that I was on the broken bike.

during the class, they were showing videos of cyclists riding in races around the world. that is one boring sport. its a lot like watching a marathon on tv. you only want to watch the final 5 minutes or so.

My goal was not to puke. I had heard how intense spin classes were.

I did sweat a good bit. but I didnt find it to be that difficult of a class. I only drank about 1/2 of the small bottle of water I had bought

afterward, I ran for 15-20 minutes. and did 10 minutes of abs.

20th workout in a row

- I made the mistake of telling Ahmad how easy my workout was last night. and because of that, today was a beast. He took a lot of pictures. Pretty much of every exercise that we did. So Ill type less. and post pictures more. The workout took about 80 minutes. brace yourself for lots of pics

- We did 25 minutes or so of abs. We did 4 sets of everything. 20 reps.

Leg raises with bands on the feet for extra resistance

IMG00670-20100116-1227.jpg

Crunches on the ball. Bands over shoulders for extra resistance

IMG00668-20100116-1225.jpg

Side crunches. Feet are together out in front. and lean to the side and work the obliques (side abs. I just learned that term). 20 on each side.

IMG00674-20100116-1229.jpg

- These are side step ups. And although its not meant as cardio, it gets the heart rate pounding. 4 sets of 20. on each leg.

IMG00678-20100116-1235.jpg

- 8 minutes of speed rope.

IMG00682-20100116-1258.jpg

- dumbbell bench press with extra band resistance

IMG00687-20100116-1307.jpg

- ball push ups

IMG00688-20100116-1321.jpg

- back pull

IMG00690-20100116-1322.jpg

- back pull with bands

19 days in

- thats what I felt like I was doing tonight. Sweatin' the Oldies!

I decided to try out a fitness class at my gym. Ive never done a group fitness class, but they always looked fun. And it seemeed they were always were full of hot chicks.

I was wrong. both times.

first of all, I was the only dude in there. and I expected maybe all chicks. I didnt expect all old chicks.

so the workout wasnt so good. but I obviously went into a class that wasnt meant for me.

I ran for 30 minutes afterward.

back to the gym with ahmad tomorrow at noon

day 18 in a row

- today is the first day for noticeable results. Im 18 days in. and I can see some extra definition in some of my upper body. Either Im going to die by 45 days in a row, or I should be in pretty good shape when this deal is over.

- We did a lot of "core" today. Atleast thats what the fancy trainers call it. Its pretty much the middle of your body. And usually it involves a ball. So we worked arms, chest, shoulders, and even some legs...but it was all bands and it was all on the ball. and whatever strength work you did, you had to maintain middle balance on the ball (therefore working your core). I think? I just do the damn work. I dont need to understand it.

I mean, I have no idea how radio works. But I just talk into the mic.

here are some pictures from today.

IMG00657-20100114-1609.jpg

IMG00661-20100114-1612.jpg

- this next picture shows the hardest part of the day. Up and down on the ball doing squats, while holding the band tight and above your head. Awful

IMG00664-20100114-1615.jpg

- My neighbor is apparently a drummer. just found out. 5 minutes ago. He is pounding the things. Doesnt he know that some people go to bed at 8:30!!! hah

- I flipped over to MTV to give Jersey Shore another chance. and it was a re-run. A re-run of the ONLY episode ive seen. Time for bed.

workout number 17

- I am eating like crazy. And not with a purpose. I am so hungry nowadays. And Im assuming its from all the working out. Tonight for dinner, I had 1lb of shrimp. 2 filet's (that I grilled), a large baked potato, pile of broccoli, corn on the cob, and finished it with a thing of yogurt. and Im still not about to burst or anything.

- Who knew jumping rope would be so freaking hard. We did 15 minutes of jump rope. Regular, running, skiing, one leg, speed. Holy crap. About 6 minutes in I started to do those little puke burps. Luckily, I didnt puke, But i didnt expect intense jump rope to be so difficult.

IMG00650-20100113-1546.jpg

- If we do weights for a couple of days... we'll switch it up and do bands the next. A lot of chest and back with the bands today.

IMG00654-20100113-1603.jpg

- I just finished watching Modern Family. That show has quickly launched into my top 5 current shows. I feel a little Sophie's choice-esque action coming up between Idol and Modern Family. I can DVR them. But its just not the same...

16 days in

- Im writing this early wednesday morning. I fell asleep last night before i could get my normal update up. A mixture of sleepy and american idol caused me to miss my self imposed blog deadline. But fear not, here is a quick update on day 16

- We did a lot of bands today. Here are a couple pictures. Arms and shoulders

IMG00642-20100112-1603.jpg

IMG00645-20100112-1608.jpg

- my hair is getting too long for even a headband. Im having to wear hats (caps, beanies, etc) when I run.

- Amy tried to do a little video as well. hers of her dog (that she sent away to be trained for a month). Not only does her dog not mind one bit. It seems like a BEAST. holy crap.

workout 15. the movie

Made a video of todays workout. We put over an hour in the small gym today.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

workout 14

- I had planned to just workout at home today. And thats pretty much what I did until the Patriots laid a big turd on the field. I worked arms, shoulders, and back in my living room with my barbells. I spent about 45 minutes just lifting. And the plan was to stay home and watch both playoff games. that is, until, the patriots made the game really uninteresting. At halftime, I went and did an hour of cardio at the big gym. 20 minutes on the treadmill. 20 minutes on the stairs. and 20 minutes on that running machine where you put your feet in the holders (it was near an open tv, so I took it). After 15 minutes of abs, I went home.

- On the way out, I found this. Sounds fun.

IMG00640-20100110-1510.jpg

- I just pre-ordered my tickets to "tooth fairy" starring Dewayne Johnson. I rarely see any of the "picture of the year" nominations. this year, Im going to get ahead of the curve. that movie looks great!

- and Im going to the Super Bowl this year. Never been. Excited.

Saturday, January 9, 2010

workout number 1-3

- I woke up at 9am today. Which is pretty early on a weekend for me. My big goal for the day was to clean my grill. However, I didnt know it was going to take 2 hours to do. There has got to be something better to use than dishwashing liquid and dish sponges. thats what i used. 2hrs and 3 cut fingers later, I was done. Then I cooked some turkey burgers.

IMG00606-20100104-1755.jpg

- I watched Up In The Air today (George Clooney). I was hooked up with it on DVD, so I threw on my pink snuggie and spent a couple hours in my chair catching a movie. It was good. I didnt know what to expect, or even really what it was about except for Clooney flying lots of places. Big Twist. Feel good. The End. Good Movie.

- I also have The Hurt Locker on DVD and may watch that tonight. I had no idea what that was about until about 3 hrs ago when I saw a commercial for it.

- My trainer Ahmad dropped his phone in his toilet yesterday, so I couldnt get a hold of him. And we didnt set a workout time for today. so I just went back to the pool today.

IMG00639-20100108-1736.jpg

- I swam about 20 laps before my head starting pounding. I took off my cap and goggles off and did some pool sprints. The longer I went, the more my head hurt. About 30 minutes in, I had to call it a day. I went to lay in the hot tub and rest... but I got real nauseas. weird workout today. It took a little food and about 3 hrs before I started to feel a little better.

- But I did get my workout in

Friday, January 8, 2010

Workout 12 (of 45)

- "Even when its cold, you must go outside and play ball with the dog. " Thats what I tell myself a few times a day. The dog seems not to care when its 70 or 7. He just wants to play ball. and all the time. Ball Ball Ball Ball. But he's a good dog otherwise. and he has never hunched on anything. Not another dog. Not a baseball bat. anything. (and he isnt neutered)

- I went back to the pool today. Its been since 05-06 that Ive spent any real time at the pool. Back then I was training for triathlons. If you want to lose weight, do a triathlon. my first one was an Olympic. and I wish I had signed up for it on purpose. I simply checked the same box that my (at the time) girlfriend did. And I wasnt in near the shape she was. She had run 2 marathons that same year. She also beat me by about 20 minutes.

- anyway, back to todays workout. I spent about 70 minutes swimming and doing different exercises. To "warm up" I did a 400. Which is 16 laps. Which was a lot more than a warm up for me. I was pretty tired. and early.

I also did some kicks with board, which is solely for upper body. back and tri's

IMG00634-20100108-1734.jpg

- yeah, and I did wear those tight triathlon shorts. they are real tight. but atleast they arent a speedo (like the old dude next to me). They go down to the knees. However, the leave very little to the imagination.

IMG00635-20100108-1734.jpg

- the plan is to swim 2 times a week. to "rest the joints. low impact work". (according to my trainer). Im really tired. and really hungry.

- Tomorrow back to the gym with regular weights and cardio.

- Feeling pretty good after today.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Day 11

- today was as close to a rest day as Ive had. We did a lot low intensity band work. bands for the arms, back, chest, and even used them to do some leg squats. here are a couple pictures from the workout.

IMG00624-20100107-1552.jpg

and here I am doing one leg squats using the bands for stability

IMG00630-20100107-1557.jpg

- thanks to Lago Vista football for the shirt!

- We also stretched a lot today. I think it was his way of giving me a little break. I was somewhat fatigured before I even started today.

- Quick blog. Friends are over. Cooking burgers. Watching BCS championship game. Keep working hard.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

10th workout in a row. feeling it.

- yep. Im tired. only 10 days in and I need for a 2nd wind. But with 35 more workouts to go, looks like Im going to need and 8th and 9th wind as well.

- This is a good question. It was posted in the comments section in yesterdays blog

"Bobby - Why is working out every day for that long good for you? Every workout routine that ive read says you are supposed to take time for your body to recover and let the micro damage done to your muscles heal..Can't get that from just sleep..Hoping that you don't end up injuring yourself from doing this.."

My response:

I hope I dont get injured as well. and I do realize that its a somewhat ridiculous goal. Also, I would never attempt this without a trainer that I trust. Which is why we have been switching the workouts up so much. Only working specific muscles certain days. Only doing cardio certain days. and allowing muscle groups to recover. If I do chest and back on day 1. and legs on day 2. and arms on day 3. I AM letting the muscles heal and recover.

- When I workout, I eat better. and its not intentional. I just dont crave as much sugary junk food. or even soda. Case in point... I bought this 2 liter bottle of Coke 5 days ago. I havent even opened it yet

IMG00613-20100105-1832.jpg

- Today sucked. Heavy chest. and Heavy abs. Lower reps. More weight. I dont even know exactly what we did. I know that I was exhausted. Here is a picture Ahmad took at the end of the workout. As weak as I look in the picture... it pretty much sums up exactly how I was feeling.

IMG00617-20100106-1614.jpg

- by the way, I got a call today from a client. He offered me a flight on his private jet. 2 tickets to Natl Championship game. and hotel. and I had to turn it down. How much does that suck? Ive never been on a private plane. Ive never even sat in first class on a commercial plane except for by accident once. damn work obligations...

workout 9.

- an intern bought these pajama pants as kind of a joke. And obviously they are meant to wear only around the holidays. However, they are so comfortable... I may just make these my "all time sleepy pants". take a look

IMG00611-20100105-1815.jpg

- my dog just ran in the house soaking wet. shook. and them threw up. This happens when he spends time with (eats) the sprinkler in the back yard.

- I woke up from a quick nap today and didnt know what day it was. and was confused on whether or not it was time to go to work or not. I was that tired. And not so much from working out. Its mostly from trying to get back on the "normal" sleep schedule of waking up at 3am. Its tough. Im sure a little has to do with 9 days in a row of intense workouts.

- I was feeling a little drained when I got to the gym today. but otherwise, fine, and was ready to get to work. Ahmad told me we were going to do plyometrics. I didnt know what that meant. but it sounded fun. like a game you'd play in grade school. maybe even foreign.

it wasnt.

it was a lot of jumping. and hitting. and jumping. quick lifts. and more jumping. it basically sucked.

(for those that care, and I looked it up when I got home)

Plyometrics is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal.

- I was DESTROYED when I left. Exhausted.

IMG00609-20100105-1717.jpg

- I came home. hit the showers. and cooked this meal. Im getting pretty solid on the grill.

Day 8

- I had to wake up early for work this morning. and it was a beast. except I never really woke up. Because I never really fell asleep. About 9p last night, I was feeling a little drowsy. Excited that I may actually get to sleep on time... I went to bed. and sadly woke up at 11p. The next 4 hrs was filled with Nick @ Nite, sports message boards, and trying to find new people to follow on twitter. I never got back to sleep. So at 3am, I got up and started working as I normally do.

- So of course I was pretty tired when it came time to work out. before I get to exactly what the workout consisted of, Id like to explain why I wear the dorky headband.

How I see it, I have 3 options..

1. Cut my hair and not worry about it, ever again
2. Let the hair stay in my face
3. wear a handband.

as lame as it is, the headband is pretty much the least of all the evils.

- Also... Once I wore a cut out shirt to my big gym. Amy never let me hear the end of it. and I stopped. Even though it was considerably more comfortable, I didnt want to look like a douchebag. The situation has changed now. Mostly because Im usually the only person inside this tiny gym. I could work out with my ding dong out of the front flap, and noone would see it. So I am again going sleeveless. (Note: I did not go sleeveless at the big gym yesterday)

- We boxed for 30 minutes. Ahmad threw in a new wrinkle during the workout. Randomly, he would attack my midsection with the pads. He would take 20 shots right in my abs. I had to take it. The point was for me to keep my abs tight the entire exercise. I hated it. but it worked

IMG00600-20100104-1624.jpg

- After the boxing, we went to the leg press machine and did 4 sets of 10 heavy. and from that, 4 sets of 10 (on each leg) step ups (with 40lb dumbbells)

IMG00604-20100104-1716.jpg

- From legs, we moved to chest, biceps and triceps. I did 4 sets of 12 chest press with dumbbells. followed by 4 sets of 12 hammer curls. and finally for the triceps, I did 4 sets of 12 elbow lifst. I dont really know what to call the last exercise. But here is a picture. I just lift straight up. its all triceps

IMG00601-20100104-1713.jpg

- 8 days in a row complete. Only 37 more days in a row to go. It makes me nervous to be around sick people now. Even more so than normal.

Sunday night. workout #7

- my trainer was out of town again today. so I went to the big gym that Im a member of, but never really go to.

IMG00598-20100103-1244.jpg

- My body isnt in good shape right now. Ive lifted in some form the last 6 days. So Im tired. Instead of lifting today. I did all cardio. I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill. then 30 minutes on the stairs. I did 15 minutes on the eliptical. and finished with 15 minutes of abs.

- The good thing about working out at the big gym (aside from the berry berry tango fruity smoothies) is that they have a spa as well. I scheduled a massage right after my workout. and overall it was great. However, there was this dumb wall waterfall that sounded like a gigantic man pee'ing.

IMG00599-20100103-1459.jpg

- Im watching The Cleveland Show right now. As much as I love Family Guy....I figured Id like this show. Its actually pretty horrible and not funny.

- back to work tomorrow. I am not looking forward to waking up at 3am tomorrow. but after I get over the initial shock of earl wake up, itll be fun to see everyone again. LB and hung some. and Carlos and I saw each other at times. but Amy was out of town on fancy vacations the whole time. and she also lost her phone at the Gap a few weeks ago. So we didnt see or talk to each other until today.

- until tomorrow

workout #6 and other things

- Pretty much, Ive watched every single bowl game. Im winning our groups bowl pick'em right now. It'd be a nice chunk of money if i can pull this out. However, just like fantasy football...its all about bragging rights. and brag I will do (if I pull it out). If i win our fantasy football league AND our bowl pick'em, my friends should avoid me at all costs.

- I wear headphones. This monkey is wearing headphones. Obviously, I had to buy this picture.
IMG00596-20100102-1850.jpg

- BIG SALE AT THE PUMA STORE TODAY. 40% off all their jackets. And the closest ive been to Europe is wearing a PUMA jacket. so I bought 2. Oui Oui. (even though I think Puma is german)

IMG00594-20100102-1846.jpg

- On to why Im keeping this blog...

I woke up horribly sore this morning. A little in my arms (from the 500 push ups), but mostly in the middle of my body (from the 1000 sit ups). Holy crap was I hurting. It was one those mornings where you know you are hurting before you even move. As soon as my eyes opened, I groaned.

I shopped a while, watched bowl games, ate some lunch; pretty much did everything BUT workout. I avoided my workout until about 5:30pm. Which is later than I usually workout

I did all dumbbells.

Arms (biceps), back, shoulders, abs, and did squats. All medium heavy. 4 sets of 12. I lifted about 50 minutes. Then did 10 minutes of abs. and, pretty much that did me in.

- Sadly, Ive also already lost 2 lbs. 173 to 171 in a few days. and I expect to lose more unless I really eat hard. and I do have mismatch socks on. I rarely match them when I do laundry.

IMG00595-20100102-1847.jpg

Its hard for me to keep weight on. Especially when Im working out every day. 6 days in. Only 39 more, in a row, to go
